We are looking for a Researcher to work with us as we help people change the world with ground-breaking data design.

Vizzuality is a world-leading data design agency based in Madrid, Cambridge, Porto and Washington, DC. Our talented team of designers, engineers, scientists and communicators work together to end malaria, stop deforestation and tackle climate change. We do this by designing and developing tools and applications for international organizations who focus on conservation, development, open data, and transparency. With our help, they’re able to share their stories with people more effectively and compel behavior changes that lead to a better world for everybody.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about using their creativity and skills to make a difference to people’s lives and the environment. Every single day you will be working on interesting and innovative projects, at the same time as developing your research skills. Your position will be based in our office in Cambridge, Madrid or Porto. You'll be working directly with Vizzuality’s Social Scientist and Chief Design Officer.

Typical daily tasks include:

  • Interviewing people, to find out how we can help them with our projects.

  • Conducting surveys with potential audience members.

  • Creating user personas and job stories, to define what we should build and who we are building for.

  • Setting up and reviewing statistics from analytics software.

  • Reading about different ways to influence user behavior and applying that to our projects, so we can deliver the most impact possible.

  • Collaborating with developers, designers, scientists and project managers whilst advocating for the best user experience and proper integration of user needs.

  • Come up with new ideas for our projects and communicate those ideas to our team and our clients

  • Talking about our projects, in blog posts and public events.

As part of the role you may also be asked to attend workshops, travel to meet clients or users,  write documentation and create presentations for events.

Some of the skills you should talk about in your application:

  • A concise and confident writer.

  • Managing your time and balancing multiple priorities.
